Robert

I am a Chemistry graduate from Durham University with a passion for chemistry and mathematics and passing on knowledge through teaching.

** Currently taking on students for the Summer 2023 exam series **

Tutoring Experience

I currently work in synthetic organic chemistry in pharmaceutical research. I am experienced in the tools of real-world science and mathematics, as well as being up to date with the current syllabus.

I achieved 3 A* grades at A-level in mathematics, chemistry, and physics at Aquinas College (Stockport, UK) where I also gained tutoring experience in AS-level chemistry, which I have continued since.

Tutoring Approach

I can take your child from where they are to where they want to be.

My lessons will follow the syllabus in order to help your child improve confidence in class and achieve or exceed their target grade in exams. I focus on using exam-style problems on the difficult end of the spectrum in sessions to illustrate how to gain crucial marks in exams.

My approach to tutoring is to be flexible and patient. I am organised and prepare learning material (relevant problems, useful information, etc) in advance of classes to make the most of the time spent together and for future reference.

I have worked with students who are on the full range of the grade spectrum. Including students with bespoke requirements such as transitioning from another country's educational system; students who require contact time above their classmates due to sporting and music commitments; and students who are mathematically bright but struggle with the wordy format of exam questions.

I have also provided advocacy for a long term home schooled student in support of a fair Centre Assessed Grade during COVID-19 related exam cancellations to allow them to seamlessly progress to A-Level study with their desired subjects.

Please get in touch to book a trial session or to discuss requirements.
