Hi, I'm Kevin or Mr Fryer,
I am 33 and tutor privately as a small part of my business. I only make 8 weekly slots available for private tuition now because most of my time is spent working in schools with disadvantaged students and helping them prepare for their GCSEs!
I moved into teaching after a long corporate career looking for a chance at more rewarding work. Growing my tuition reputation alongside my teaching career I realised that there was far more impact to be made working with students in smaller groups or one to one. With this information, I left the formal classroom environment and began working on some innovative ways of working with students within the education system but as an outside company and these have since been adopted by schools!
I continue to coach privately on a much more limited basis because I still get a great reward from working with students on a one to one basis!
Qualified teacher- PGCE mathematics with QTS
My primary business since leaving the classroom focusses on coaching small groups of students within schools across the south and south east and running seminar days for larger groups of GCSE students, helping them to build confidence in the year of their exams.
My focus when working with new students is building a relationship as quickly as possible and showing the student maths in the most simple way possible- I am able to deliver lessons in a way that is relatable with the age group and many students quickly lose their fear of maths! Once this is achieved and the main skills have been developed we will move on to woking through the problems as they appear in the GCSE papers.
