I am a qualified Business teacher and Head of Year 12 at a top-rated secondary school in Solihull. Teaching AQA Business A-level, OCR Business GCSE and BTEC Enterprise. In addition to teaching, have been tutoring for 4 years and have helped students to improve their grades and gain confidence in exam structures and subject knowledge. I can tutor OCR, AQA and Edexcel GCSE but only tutor in AQA Business A level. I offer sessions both online and face-to-face.
Since graduating with a 2:1 in Business and Marketing, I gained 2 years experience working in the marketing department for a charity. I then embarked on an adventure to Australia and Thailand for 4 months. In addition, I was employed as an Au-pair to a family in Spain and taught English to the local children. This experience led to my passion for teaching young people and so upon my return to England I trained to become a Qualified Business teacher at a Russell Group University: Warwick. Here, I graduated as an Outstanding teacher and received an award for creativity and excellence.
I am now entering my 9th academic year of teaching and have vast experience and knowledge for teaching Business to students of mixed abilities.

Tutoring Experience

I am entering my 9th academic year of teaching Business and Enterprise. Combining my experience in business and my understanding of the exam specifications, has led to my creative approach to teaching my subject. I use real life examples in my teaching to help students understand how the theory is used in real businesses. This can then be applied to past exam questions, using structures and specialised exam techniques to help create answers to A-level and GCSE examinations.

My passion for teaching business has meant that the number of students taking business as a GCSE option has more than doubled since I joined the school in 2015 and the intake at Alevel has tripled. I have had experience as Head of Business and Enterprise and have now developed my skills to be Head of Year 12 and support students with personal statements and UCAS applications.
I have had experience in teaching a wide range of students with mixed abilities and create resources and materials that cater for different learning styles. I have taught on a one-to-one level and have run many intervention sessions to help students to achieve their target grade or above in Business.
My recent A level results at school in 2023 examination period were: 16/34 students taught achieved A-A* and 88% of the cohort achieved A*-B grades.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is very much focused on finding out a students weaknesses and making sure that they understand the content fully before practising exam style questions. In my experience, students tend to need help in writing longer answer questions and so I have plenty of structures and techniques to help them to build on this skill at both GCSE and Alevel. My tutoring sessions are tailored to meet individual student’s needs and will focus on exam content and structure. I will use a range of different assessments tools to enable progress to be shown. My results over the last 4 years in tutoring have been excellent and all students I have taught one-to-one have achieved above their target grade and made fantastic progress. Please look at my reviews
