I am a working tutor with 200+ hours of experience across 12+ students ranging from foundation tier GCSE to undergraduate level.
I hold a masters degree (MASt, "Part III") in Applied Mathematics from the University of Cambridge and a BSc (1st) in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Warwick.
I currently have availability for students looking for tuition on weekday daytimes (e.g. undergraduates) and all students looking for online tuition. I have very limited availability for students looking for in-person tuition on weekday evenings at the moment.
I am particularly interested in taking on more A-level Mathematics or Further Mathematics students. I can offer tuition in mathematics and physics from GCSE to early undergraduate level, including equivalent qualifications and university admissions (STEP, MAT, PAT etc).
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate through my voluntary work with Emmanuel House Support Centre in Nottingham that I can show on request.
I require 24 hours notice for cancellation of online lessons and 48 hours notice for cancellation of in-person lessons else the full fee must be paid. I am able to make concessions for extenuating circumstances with this policy. However, if you are unable to pay the cancellation fee after not giving notice in normal circumstances then unfortunately I will be unable to continue offering tuition.
I currently have 12 regular students (6 GCSE, 5 A-level and 1 Undergraduate) across a range of subjects (Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science).
I have been tutoring as my primary job since October 2023 and have since amassed hundreds of hours of lesson time.
Prior to this I had experience through tutoring at University, such as mentoring first year undergraduates.
For online tuition I prefer to set up a discord server with the student. This allows us to discuss problems across a continual chat, and allows me to typeset mathematics with LaTeX via a TeX bot. I also offer tuition via other online platforms (Teams, Zoom etc) for those with other preferences.
I find that sending students problems throughout the week to think about before we solve them together in a call on an collaborative whiteboard is the most effective approach.
There is also great value in working through past papers together, particularly for those students with imminent examinations. I can offer this online but find it generally to be more productive in person.
As your tutor I am happy to discuss problems set with you throughout the week between our sessions, along with providing advice in other areas such as university admissions. I also offer to mark questions you have solved in your own time, or past papers you sat under exam conditions as revision.
