I am passionate about teaching history and politics, I truly believe that the knowledge and skills acquired from learning both history and politics are invaluable in navigating life in the 21st century. I love teaching and helping my students to make progress is truly rewarding. It has been a difficult few years, with so much lost learning and I really want to use my knowledge and expertise to help my students regain their confidence.

Tutoring Experience

In my 14 year teaching career I have taught history to students from ages 11-18, planning and delivering engaging lessons and assessing students in order to help them make progress in their learning. I have taught a range of topics and have experience teaching to Edexcel, AQA and OCR specifications at GCSE and A Level. In addition to this I have been a history examiner for Edexcel and more recently a moderator for AQA, as a result I have an in depth knowledge of the mark scheme and how it is applied in practice. I have also taught A Level Politics to the Edexcel specification.

Tutoring Approach

I am enthusiastic about my subject and believe that students achieve the best results when they find a love for a subject too. As such, I always aim to plan engaging and interesting tasks to capture the interest of my students. I believe that variety is key - there will be a mixture of reading/comprehension tasks, analysis of pictorial or written sources, written tasks and exam practice in the form of analysis of model answers and so on. I will always tailor my approach to the specific needs of my students as people learn in a variety of different ways and may have specific areas that they wish to work on.
