Hello! I am a physics student entering my third year at Imperial College London. I have always enjoyed breaking down complex concepts into digestible "nuggets" of information to help someone build an intuitive understanding of something that might seem abstract. From experience, being part of someone's journey in building confidence in science or maths is extremely rewarding, thus, I am looking forward to working with students in any and every background.
In school, I was a maths mentor for one year for struggling students in any secondary school year excluding sixth form, this taught me the importance of teaching concepts with the aid of visual tools while maintaining an appropriate pace relative to the individual student.
As stated earlier, I will break down a particular concept into bite-size steps so the students won't get overwhelmed. This will be achieved with visual tools and working through examples together. By assessing the students' confidence in the newly learned skill I will set an appropriate pace so that we can focus on building a strong foundation before implementing harder techniques.
