I am currently studying Applied Mathematics with a focus in Physics at Harvard University after achieving 4 A* at A-Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. I secured a scholarship from Harvard, but also held offers from Cambridge, Imperial and Durham.
Accolades:
- Achieved a Gold in UKMT Senior Maths Challenge 2019
Achieved Silver in British Physics Olympiad AS Challenge
Achieved Silver in Cambridge Chemistry Challenge
In addition to teaching Maths, Physics and Chemistry, I provide SAT and ACT preparation, as well as support in students’ applications for those looking to apply to UK or US universities. (The US prep will be listed under "Entrance Exams")
I learned how to stay focused on my studies in chaotic environments and hope to teach others the same set of skills. As a tutor, I will prepare students with the skills to not only succeed in their exams but also in their endeavors in getting into a prestigious university.
This summer, I am going to be in New York for an internship, but we can work together to find a time that works for us both.
An article about me going to Harvard:
Removed
I have been tutoring since July 2020 and also taught in a sixth form starting in November 2020 before I had to travel to the USA for my studies. Since then, I have:
Supported two students’ US applications, reviewed their applications and offered advice they used to help them secure places in Harvard and Princeton University respectively (I am actually friends with the one who is at Harvard).
Tutored one student, who was predicted a B for his Chemistry in A-Levels, for 2 months and helped him get an A in that subject in the actual test
Helped one student secure a scholarship to St Margaret's School
Pushed a student, who started in set 3 for Maths, into set 1 within 3 months
Taught a group of struggling A-Level Physics students, as well as struggling Maths students, and helped them achieve a minimum of a B at the end of their first year.
In the first lesson, we will get to know each other and establish a rapport which will make the student feel comfortable in their new learning environment. In my experience, the ones who do well have genuine enthusiasm in their subjects. My goal is to nurture and grow a mindset in them that welcomes challenges, whilst also enjoying learning new things that will ultimately help them solve those problems.
Based on each student, I will personalize their lessons to reach their goals. Probing their weak areas and their needs, I will then break down those difficult concepts and then apply them to example past paper questions for them to develop a feel for it.
At every milestone, I will prepare a test for the student to see how far they have progressed and whether the weak areas were sufficiently targeted.
My quantitative goal with these students is at least a grade leap from where they started.
