I'm a dedicated and enthusiastic PhD student who is open to teaching all levels, from GCSE all the way up to degree level.
My credentials include a Masters degree in Maths from Cardiff University and a PhD in Applied Maths and Engineering (Fluid Mechanics), also from Cardiff.
I have experience in teaching both Maths and Engineering tutorials within the University, where I help undergraduates with their problem sheets and go through solutions with them. I have done this for the past 5 years and have usually taken 2 or 3 tutorial classes each semester. Some examples of the topics in first year mathematics including set theory, groups, limits, calculus, sequences and series. Additionally for engineering first year I covered strictly mathematical topics such as differential equations, trigonometry and complex numbers. All topics in GCSE and A-Level maths I am capable of teaching. I am also open to university level fluid mechanics queries as that is what I am specialist trained in.
I like to guide students through the solution process, highlighting particular learning opportunities along the way. I understand main reason students seek out tutoring is to pass an exam, so I will always focus on that goal ultimately.
I hope to be able to instill a level of confidence within my students when dealing with problems they don't understand initially. I do this by breaking problems down into their constituent parts to make the overall solution process easier.
I'm a really relaxed person who likes to build friendly atmospheres with my students so they can feel comfortable to ask any question they wish.
