I have nothing but positive things to say about Vivienne; she was amazing from start to finish. What I loved most was her teaching style. My son said she made concepts clearer and easier to understand, and she helped him with his poems and essays.

She is results-oriented and dedicated to helping her students achieve high grades. I highly recommend her!!

Vivienne has engaged really well with my son to support with national 5 English. She is warm, approachable and has a great understanding of the demand of the course, and an ability to build understanding of and confidence in my son. He is really enjoying his lessons and would most definitely recommend.

Vivienne has been tutoring my daughter since her National 5 exams, and is now currently doing Higher. She uses a very kind approach in order to make sure she understands everything, and always gives upmost her support. After starting S4, my daughter didn’t have much confidence in English. However, after only a few sessions with Vivienne, I had already seen much improvement. With her help, my daughter achieved an A in her National 5 English. I am very grateful to have met Vivienne, and I deeply appreciate her support for my daughter. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs help with English.

Don’t hesitate, if you need an English tutor then Vivienne is the right person. She has such a warm personality and instantly puts you at ease. My daughter has had three sessions and is already showing more confidence. Both my daughter and I, are incredibly happy with how this is going. As I said, don’t hesitate about asking her to tutor you or your child.

Very helpful and supportive tutoring, just what I was looking for.

My daughter was very anxious about getting a tutor but from the first session Vivienne put her at ease and has helped her gain confidence in a short space of time. I am very happy with how the sessions and going and most importantly so is my daughter.

A very good match for my daughter. Vivienne is patient and has given great guidance and confidence to my daughter as she works towards her exams.

Started well however when we tried to discuss arrangements regarding holiday periods such as Eid / October break we were informed that we would charged if couldnt rebook. When i tried to ask about over what time frame we could rebook was advised by tutor she felt she could no longer go forward with us and asked us to look for alternative arrangements. Cannot say how good a tutor she is as we only paid for first session only and so cannot comment on her skills after only one session.

I realise our family's experience has been different from everyone else on here, which is such a shame. Things started off well but, after encouraging our children to study a different text to the one they have been working on all year in school for Higher, she has dropped them completely saying she can no longer tutor them. They have done nothing wrong. Vivienne knocked their confidence by telling them their work was inadequate and by starting to write their portfolio essays for them, including writing one from scratch on a subject of her own choosing. Some parents might want this, but we did not. She dropped our children after we politely told her we wanted her to help with the other aspects of the Higher rather than the portfolio essays. We hired this tutor to boost our children's confidence and help them learn, but this has ended up being a poisonous experience, unfortunately, which has done the opposite. Our children liked her, think she meant well and wants the highest grades possible - dumping them like this is damaging.

Vivienne was great with my son who really struggled with English. I’ve seen significant improvement which has led to great result in his nat 5 exam. She is currently tutoring him on his Higher English.

Vivienne has been an excellent English tutor for my son. He obtained a C for Higher English in 2020, and wanted to improve on his grade. His understanding, engagement and confidence in the subject following his lessons with Vivienne were incredible.
He obtained an A in his Higher English this year. This would never have been achieved without Vivienne's guidance.
I would highly recommend her to anyone who requires a tutor. She established a good rapport with my son, and had the right approach in her teaching methods, guiding and inspiring him in his English studies.

I could not recommend Vivienne highly enough. She has the experience to know what to target and how in order to obtain an excellent result. We used her for my eldest son for his higher English and he obtained an A. Hopefully she will help our youngest son when he sits his highers

Vivienne is an excellent tutor. She has great experience in her field and has a very engaging style of teaching which has inspired and encouraged my daughter in her English studies. This resulted in an A pass at Nat 5. My daughter is continuing lessons for her Higher English.

Vivienne is a really nice person. But due to her busy schedule, we were unable to continue to work together.

The confidence in my daughter after only a few sessions with Vivienne is unbelievable. She comes out each session buzzing and actually has found a love for English I don't think she knew she had!

Unfortunately Vivienne was unable to accommodate us. An oversight that could be avoided prior to paying the fee, to avoid any issues.

Vivienne is reliable and very professional. I really enjoyed my first tutorial and had a much clearer plan of what to do next following the help and advice she provided. The tutorials are engaging since we both work on the material together which helps me to focus on the task. I look forward to our following tutorials and I am confident that with her help and assistance, I can achieve the best possible outcome for myself.

Vivienne had a very good rapport with my teenage son and he found her approachable and easy to talk to. First class knowledge of her subject and the exam process. Would thoroughly recommend her. My son achieved an 'A' at Higher level after obtaining a 'B' at National 5 level.

Vivien has tutored my daughter, who is not a native speaker and has lived in Scotland only slightly over a year. When we first moved to Scotland, her level of English was not too good. She got a B from her Nat-5 English Exam, but only at the very limit. In her S5 year, we've contacted Vivien to tutor my daughter in preparation for her Higher English Exam. Within a matter of weeks, we've observed the difference. She was much more confident and fluent than she had ever been before. Not surprisingly, she got the second highest mark in her class during the prep exams, ahead of all the native speaker pupils. Finally, she took her Higher exam, and she is pretty confident she will get an A. During the 6+ months period when Vivien tutored our daughter, she was much more than just a tutor. At times, she was much more considerate than her schools teachers. She not only tutored her, but also coached her, gave her the confidence she badly needed. I can confidently say that Vivien is a 5+/5 tutor.

Vivienne has been good initially but she has been very unreliable consistently. I am not sure if I recommend her to anyone although she knows her subject very well.

Vivienne gave my daughter confidence and provided her with the tools to achieve her Higher at B having failed it twice. Vivienne formed a warm but professional bond with my daughter which put my daughter at ease.Vivienne made herself available at all times and she and my daughter achieved a high level of work in her sessions.I would happily recommend Vivienne as a tutor.

Hi Vivienne, hopefully, you can use the feedback below and many thanks for helping Amanda secure an A pass (hopefully, you got her text).
We enlisted the services of Vivienne just as my daughter was preparing for her prelim exam and I guess it was just in time. Vivienne did a superb job of preparing my daughter to sit both her prelim and the final exam and I'm glad to report that she secured a grade A pass in Higher English.
Vivienne guided my daughter in the creation of her portfolio, recognising that this would be a significant contributor to my daughter's overall mark. The knowledge imparted to my daughter while working on this and the quality of the resulting portfolio certainly boosted her confidence too.
Close reading was an area that my daughter had struggled with in the past, tending to write too much and not fully answering the question. Vivienne turned this around expertly. My daughter worked extremely hard to learn to use the tips and tricks that Vivienne taught her and we could clearly see significant progress was being made, as her marks steadily improved with each exercise set by the college and Vivienne.
Although we had the occasional hiccup in setting up tutorial sessions and the odd late cancellation, we pretty much got as many sessions as we had envisaged. I guess it shows how much demand there is for Vivienne's services and our daughter's mark certainly proves her worth.

Thank you Vivienne for agreeing to be the girls' Tutor this year. I know there is such a big jump from Int 2 to Higher and therefore language is going to be much more complex. It is good to have the Folio work well under way, leaving time for the Close Reading and Critical Essays. I think I mentioned that particularly Mairi may well struggle with forming her Critical Essay as the two she used for her Int 2 work were pretty much 'model' essays supplied by her teacher at the time. The girls are a bit edgy about me dropping hints to you about things they are struggling with and would rather just work away - I think they call it 'interfering' and 'Mum, we can cope fine'. However, just this week Mairi was upset that the teacher asked the class to start a critical essay and everyone else was writing 2 or 3 pages and she went blank and didn't know how to start it. Of course - Vivienne - I'm leaving it for you to coax this information from her about her fears as I'm not supposed to have told you. But I think it was a really important point to have raised. Oh, children!
