My aim is to raise the confidence of each of my pupils and help them harness their true potential through well structured and personalised lessons. For Primary age pupils I can provide a secure grounding in maths and help provide a love of English and creative writing in particular. For those students who are entering their GCSE years I provide well tested revision resources and help support them in areas which they might find challenging. Encouraging and helping students to achieve high levels in their creative writing is a particular interest of mine. I am a semi-professional singer and enjoy writing, often using poetry as a way of encouraging young people to harness their own creative talents.

Tutoring Experience

I am an experienced tutor of pupils at both Primary and Secondary level; often taking students right through from an early age to GCSE years. Encouraging and enabling students to achieve their true potential, I have a proven track record in helping students to achieve or exceed their GCSE goals and am experienced in helping pupils who find learning in the traditional school environment challenging.
For Primary level students I ensure that they have a secure grounding in maths and English, particularly encouraging a love and aptitude for creative writing. I also am experienced in helping those for whom spelling can be challenging.
For GCSE students, I expand their knowledge of their subject, nurturing a concise and organised approach to their work, encouraging enjoyment of their subject. We work hard together, with a tailored approach, so that they can achieve the grades that they need or want.
I am experienced in aiding students in their preparation for Entrance and Secondary School examinations, regularly raising their level and confidence in a condensed period of lessons.
I am also an experienced teacher of English as a Foreign Language.

Tutoring Approach

Lessons are tailored to the requirements and learning styles (visual/auditory) of each student. When teaching I encourage my students to make links between their subjects and I use poetry as a medium for encouraging children to tap into and enjoy their creative abilities. Often this involves taking inspiration from the environment around them. I put pupils at ease and create productive and enjoyable learning environments. I continuously use challenge and praise to encourage pupils to believe in their abilities and expand their knowledge. I also offer revision and examination advice to ensure success.
