I am experienced,student-centred tutor who currently teaches in Higher Education. My qualifications include a teaching qualification from the Institute of Education, University College London as well as a BA in Modern Languages. My approach to teaching is very student-centred, flexible and results oriented. I try as much as possible to make sure my students experience improvement in their subject, from day one. As well as support them in achieving their goals.
I am able to offer English language and Literature tuition for GCSE students over the summer, for those who would like to get ahead before the start of the next academic year in September.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught for over 17 years in various teaching capacities, including in the commercial sector where I delivered workshops and training. I currently work in the HE sector, where I am involved in teaching Academic Study Skills and English for Academic Purposes and as an Additional Language. I also teach privately, where I assist undergraduate students and foreign individuals who are looking to improve their English or take exams such as CAE and IELTs.

Tutoring Approach

I use a variety of teaching methods and approaches to work very closely one to one with such students. I attempt to understand student's motivations for seeking support and adapting my teaching accordingly. I believe in providing home work and self-directed study tasks to enable students take ownership of their learning. I see my role as a tutor as not just a conveyor of information but also as a facilitator who enables their student reach their full potential. I try to encourage and motivate as much as possible.
