I am an experienced and dedicated teacher who genuinely enjoys working with pupils of all ages and abilities. Over the years, I’ve been consistently recognised for the quality of my teaching, with colleagues and parents describing me as an outstanding educator.
One of my key strengths is my ability to quickly build a strong rapport with pupils. I take the time to understand each individual and work at their pace, creating a calm, supportive environment where they can feel confident and relaxed. I’ve often been described as warm, approachable, and above all — patient.
Colleagues have praised my calm and composed approach, even in the most challenging situations. I bring empathy and understanding to every session, knowing that for many pupils, learning — especially with a new tutor — can feel daunting. I take this into account when planning and delivering lessons, always tailoring my approach to suit each learner’s unique needs, personality, and confidence level.
My goal is to help every pupil feel safe, valued, and capable. Whether a student needs gentle encouragement or structured support, I adapt my style to help them engage, enjoy learning, and achieve their full potential.
I am a highly qualified and experienced teacher with a strong background in both mainstream and special education. For over 14 years, I served as Head of Special Educational Needs (SEN), and I hold additional specialist qualifications in this area. My career has given me the opportunity to work across a wide range of educational settings, including primary, secondary, further education, and private schools.
I began my teaching journey as a History teacher in a London secondary school, but I soon discovered a deep interest in supporting students with emotional, learning, and physical difficulties. This led me to retrain as a SEND specialist, completing a two-year qualification to deepen my expertise.
I have experience teaching pupils both one-to-one and in small groups. My tutoring has covered a wide range of subjects and skills, including literacy, study skills, emotional literacy, life and social skills, English as an Additional Language (EAL), and History up to GCSE level. I am also qualified to teach English as a foreign language.
In addition, I have helped many students prepare for 11+ and entrance exams for local independent schools in areas such as New Malden, Wimbledon, Hampton, and Kingston. I’m familiar with the entrance requirements of schools including Kingston Grammar School and many others in the surrounding area.
My approach is warm, flexible, and personalised — I tailor each lesson to suit the individual needs of the learner, helping them gain confidence and reach their full potential.
I take the time to assess each pupil’s individual needs, learning style, and confidence level, and carefully plan each session to support their personal progress. My goal is to ensure that learning is not only effective, but also enjoyable and engaging.
I believe that learning should be fun — not a chore. To keep students motivated and involved, I use a wide variety of resources tailored to their interests, including interactive tools, educational games, and ICT. This flexible approach helps to build confidence, deepen understanding, and make each session something pupils look forward to.
