I am currently at home and looking for work that I can do remotely. I am married and have two grown up children. I am very flexible.
I trained as a General Nurse and worked within the NHS for around fifteen years. After completing my degree I then completed a PGCE in FAHE and up until 2024 I worked as a Health and Social Care lecturer teaching Level 1, 2 and 3. I have had 25 years of teaching Health and Social Care and over the years I have taught GNVQ, NVQ, Early years, BTEC and dabbled briefly in 'T' Levels. I have taught level 3 BTEC online via Zoom and Microsoft teams. I have taught Suicide Awareness and Level 2 Counselling online so I know my way around the technology.
My approach to teaching is to make it as interesting and fun as I can. I believe that learning should be engaging that is why I enjoy using realia in my virtual classroom. I do not believe in a 'mug and jug' approach to teaching which implies that the teacher knows everything and fills the student up with knowledge. I treat students as adults and encourage them to be excited about health and social care. Because I have worked within the industry I have more than an academic interest in the topic which I feel enriches the student experience.
