I am a fully qualified English teacher (University of Cambridge) with over 20 years experience teaching both English Language and English Literature here in the UK school system. I have extensive experience of working with students of all levels and ages, both here in the UK and also abroad. I have prepared students for numerous English exams, including Entrance Exams/11+, GCSE (both Language & Literature), A-Levels, Functional Skills English (all levels), Cambridge KET, PET, FCE, CAE and CPE, as well as other internationally recognised exams such as TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, etc. I have experience of preparing students for all of the various formats currently in use by the UK examination boards (AQA, EDEXCEL, WJEC, iGCSE, OCR, IB, etc.). Unfortunately, I do not have the facilities to accommodate student's at my home. I am a fluent Spanish speaker.
I would just like to add that my full time profession is that of "English Tutor", therefore, I take my work very seriously indeed, as I do not tutor solely as a means of a 'second income'. Thus, all of my student's receive my full and undivided attention.
Although I would like to add, that with the utmost respect: please do not contact me if your intentions are to haggle over the cost of tuition, as the fees stated on my profile, are non-negotiable. Thank you for your understanding.
I was recently hired by Birmingham City Football Club to teach both GCSE English and Functional Skills English to the young football trainees attached to the football club, as part of an initiative aimed at ensuring these youngsters are prepared for life at the end of their footballing careers, by ensuring that they have a relevant qualification in English, in order to further enhance their chances of successfully entering the jobs market after their football careers have ended.
In addition, I have worked with both native and non-native English students of all ages and various levels, from absolute beginners, to those studying English as part of a university degree. I have experience in preparing students for numerous English exams including 11+/Entrance Exams, GCSE English Language & Literature, AS, A2, A-Levels, Functional Skills (all levels), Cambridge KET, PET, CFE, CAE, CPE, as well as all other internationally recognised exams: TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, etc. I have a 100% success rate with preparing students for their Entrance Exams to local grammar schools, as to date, every single student that I have prepared for the exam, has been offered a placement within their required school.
Whilst in Mexico I was hired as the 'Head of English Department/English Co-ordinator' at one of Mexico's most exclusive private bilingual schools. My students have ranged from 4 year old kindergarten children, to the top directors and executives of Latin America's leading cinema chain.I also ran an 'in-house' Business English course in Mexico for 2 years where I worked with some of the leading companies in Latin America, including Cinepolis, Universidad Tecnologico de Monterrey, as well as various private companies. In 2012 I was awarded a 'Certificate of Excellence' by the International Education Services Inc. for my work with schoolchildren.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL OF MY TEACHING QUALIFICATIONS ARE HELD "ON FILE", MEANING THAT THEY HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND VERIFIED BY THE FIRST TUTORS WEBSITE
I always endeavour to ensure that the classes that I prepare are firstly suited to the students level and secondly something that the students are actually going to enjoy participating in. I like to create a relaxed atmosphere for each of my students, as I have found that this leads to far better results, as opposed to a 'sterile classroom' setting. I have an extensive collection of pre-prepared material, as well as numerous different English & Business English workbooks, although each class will be individually tailored to meet the students personal needs. I also like to regularly prepare tests for my students in order to monitor student progress.
