Deputy Head of English, teacher of KS3 and KS4 English Language & Literature (AQA) and KS5 English Literature (Edexcel) at an outstanding, top UK grammar school, teacher mentor/trainer and examiner for GCSE English Language. Last year, my students achieved an average of grade 8 in GCSE Language and Literature with a 100% pass rate. 75% of my A Level students achieved A-A* grades with a 100%.

The GCSE Literature texts I specialise in are: An Inspector Calls; Lord of the Flies; Animal Farm; Macbeth; Jekyll & Hyde; A Christmas Carol; Power & Conflict poetry; and unseen poetry. The A Level texts I specialise in are: Dracula; The Picture of Dorian Gray; and Romantic Verse (Blake; Wordsworth; Byron; Shelley; and Keats). I have also supervised A Level coursework on a wide range of texts and authors. I am happy to help with other literature texts too - get in touch and we can discuss!

Additionally, as a Sixth Form Tutor I have worked closely with students on their university applications and can help with perfecting your personal statement.

I have a proven track record of helping my students achieve excellent results. In 2024, my two GCSE classes achieved an average grade of 7.8 in English Language and 7.6 in English Literature. The percentage of my students achieving one of the top grades (7-9) in both qualifications was 84%. My A Level class was equally successful with all students achieving A*-C and 74% achieving A*-A grades.

I have been a qualified teacher for 10 years, teaching English Language and Literature at GCSE level and English Literature at A Level. Deputy Head of English and mentor for trainee and newly qualified teachers. GCSE English Language examiner since 2017.
