I have been teaching physics for five years from foundation year to master's level, as well as volunteering in schools outreach and public education. I provide approachable yet expert instruction in physics and maths, which will not only fulfill the curriculum, but develop insight and understanding of the subject at a high level. I am a globally recognised expert in condensed matter physics. I hold a University Academic Fellowship at the Univeristy of Leeds, an Honorary Fellowship at the University of Glasgow and a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellowship.
I have been lecturing at a University level for five years, teaching students at foundation year to fourth year. I have maintained exceptionally positive student feedback and an above average pass rate for my students. I also mentor several students at degree level and PhD level.
I believe in education as a component of personal growth, as well as a tool to reach one's goals, and I tailor my approach to suit student's strengths and interests, appreciating that no single method fits every learner. I utilise intuitive and visual explanations of core materials to broach difficult topics and guide students to connect new learning to their existing knowledge base. I believe it is critical to develop a student's individual motivation to engage with the subject matter and to cultivate that enjoyment of the subject alongside their learning.
