Thomas

I was born in Bath, England and grew up in the counties of Wiltshire and Somerset. Having previously completed my undergraduate studies at Falmouth University, Cornwall, I then went on to complete a Master of Music Degree at the University of Aberdeen under the direction of Welsh composer Paul Mealor. I have worked with multiple ensembles and musicians throughout my academic and professional practice, including professional standard choirs, orchestras and composers. I sang Beethoven 9 at Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms in 2018, under the direction of Simon Halsey and Donald Runnicles. As well as Handel Messiah at Bath Abbey and VSA Sing, Sing, Sing in Aberdeen’s recently renovated Music Hall, 2019 and 2020. I am currently the Co-director of the Braeside Singers, based in Aberdeen.

Tutoring Approach

I provide tuition in Glasgow, Scotland and online via Skype in Voice, Piano, Composition and Music Theory and Aural Training. With multiple music degrees, combined with professional performance and teaching practice, pupils receive a solid grounding throughout their music education. Tuition is tailored to individual needs, to further musical development, through fun and engaging lessons. Outside of lesson support is also available through the Tonara App. I use a variety of traditional and modern teaching methods, tailored to pupils from the age of 6 and above, from beginner to advanced level.

I aim to create fun and engaging lessons using my experience in academia and performance. I am classically trained and familiar and competent in many genres of music, such as classical, choral, film and folk. Lessons are tailored to individual needs and preferences.
