I have been teaching Maths in schools for the past 8 years. I have achieved some of the highest results in the country with my classes averaging progress in excess of 2 grades better than target. All of the lessons I use I have made myself and cover the full curriculum for all abilities. I pride myself on forming good relationships with the students and developing a keen understanding of Maths that translates to strong academic grades. I like sessions to be informal, enjoyable where we both have a bit of a laugh but make very good progress.
I have been teaching students aged 11-16 for the past 8 years and have been teaching a level Maths for the past 5 years. I am experienced in getting GCSE students a pass (grade 4) and pushing them to achieve their potential whether grade 5 on foundation or 8-9 on higher. I am familiar with the wording of questions, mark schemes, easy wins and common misconceptions. With KS5, I have also made a lot of my own reosurces, tests and can teach a conceptual understanding of the A level content. I have lessons on all of pure and am able to help with mechanics also.
I explain the topic in depth and run through examples designed to identity any misconceptions. I then get the student to practise the questions that I have prepared to test their understanding. I believe that each question should be slightly different to the previous one so that the student needs to fully understand the topic rather than follow a process to get everything correct.
