Hi, my name is Thomas and I am currently studying Medicine at the University of Sheffield. I am perfectly suited to tutoring you because of my systematic and thorough approach to learning. I believe that improving your performance in a subject is more than just the facts, it is understanding what underlies these principles.

I know the value of focused teaching and the benefits it can bring. With my lessons I will apply this and use it to get the most out of students when their exams come around. This involves a mixture of working through tricky to grasp ideas in tandem with frequent exam style practice to perfect their approach and help them show their ability when it counts.

Having been a student in school sitting exams relatively recently I believe I have a unique insight into how to make the most of teaching and boost grades with hard work and dedication.

Tutoring Experience

I have experience tutoring GCSE science students at all levels as well as a keen interest in teaching on my medical degree, where I have lead several small group teaching activities.

Tutoring Approach

My session will consist of covering topics that the student is finding difficult and then tackling exam style questions around this so that they learn how to get all of the marks from the questions. I will go through hard to understand concepts before testing the student by asking them to explain it back to me, this is a proven method of checking short term memory of the topic. After every 5 sessions I will have a recap quiz as another level of checking the students long term memory and understanding.

I also will endeavour to help them to make sure that they are covering everything that they need too and in the required depth. With all of this combined I am sure that I can help them achieve their maximum potential.
