Teddy

I recently graduated from the University of Manchester, where I received a First Class degree in Chinese Studies. In 2022-23 I studied for one year at Taiwan's top university (National Taiwan University). I now hope to share the techniques I learnt studying Mandarin as a native English speaker.

Tutoring Experience

I have received top grades in GCSE Mandarin, Cambridge Pre-U Mandarin Chinese, and Chinese Studies (BA). As such I am familiar with the examination process and the anxiety that can come with it. I taught English to elementary students in Taiwan, and have also tutored adults, helping English-speaking professionals prepare for work assignments in China.

Tutoring Approach

I teach from the perspective of someone who has also learnt Mandarin as a second language. Using audio-visual teaching methods, I tailor lesson plans to meet each student’s specific language needs. I foster a supportive learning environment, ensuring students gain confidence in using Chinese for educational, professional and social interactions.
