I consider myself to be enthusiastic, warm and empathetic. As a teacher, I empower and inspire the children I work with through a sense of independence, critical thinking, humour and a love for learning. I form meaningful relationships with the children and their parents, working collaboratively to ensure each child can achieve to their potential in a holistic manner.
I have tutored 7+, 11+, GSCE in Maths, English and Science with hundreds of hours experience. I've been working in education for 15 years, 12 of which have been based in London in the independent sector. I have experience with teaching Nursery, Reception, KS1 and early KS2. I am currently Head of Lower School, KS1 Science Teacher and a Form 1&2 Class teacher at an independent school in North London, where I have taught using both the Montessori method of education, as well as more traditional approaches to learning.
I believe in structure and positive encouragement, motivating students by catering to their strengths, abilities, individual learning styles and interests. I am strongly of the opinion that individualised and tailored learning works best in order for students to develop and progress; the implementation of small, achievable tasks and goals can help children become self motivated and engaged learners. Building children's confidence and self-esteem nurtures their interests and enthusiasm in their learning.
I am passionate about science, maths and technology. I am a big advocate for positive mental health in children and in adults, and I firmly believe that teaching and learning should be fun. Developing independence, curiosity and a passion for learning in the children I teach is my highest priority. I happen to think that a good sense of humour doesn't hurt either!
I am currently working towards a Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills, which will also enable me to support your child to process any insecurities or anxieties around their learning.
