I trained as a PE teacher at the University of Exeter and worked in secondary schools and further education colleges. My family are all heavily involved in sport and I spend much of my time organising, watching or driving to sports fixtures. We live in Devon and I work as a full time Sports lecturer and Tutorial Area Manager at Exeter College.
I have taught A Level PE for 30 years and specialise in the Physiological and Socio-cultural sections of the specification. I have been a Team Leader for OCR A level PE on Paper 3 (socio-cultural) and an Assistant Examiner on Paper 1 (Physiological) for 20 years which has given me an detailed insight into how to support students in structuring and applying their knowledge in an exam. Alongside this, I have prepared 100s of students for their EAPI and practical assessments.
My approach to teaching is to equip the students with the tools they need to be confident in the subject area and so that they feel prepared when sitting exams or being asked questions in class. Each student is unique and individual, learning and teaching styles must reflect that, so we work as a team to find the pathway to success.
