A fully-qualified teacher, I am a mathematics graduate who works at a secondary school in Greater Manchester.

Tutoring Experience

In addition to having tutored for over 20 years, I am an A Level and GCSE Mathematics examiner. My expertise is in tutoring A Level and GCSE mathematics. I am well- acquainted with the teaching content and nuances in question structure and style for the different examining boards.

In the past, I have provided support to 1st and 2nd year engineering students at Bradford University and the University of Huddersfield, supporting them with the pure mathematics, mechanics and statistics components of their foundation, 1st and 2nd year courses.

In 2015, I was awarded A level Mathematics lead status from the National Centre of Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) and acquired certified status in the Teaching of Further Mathematics (TFM1 and TFM2) from the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP).

I have a firm grasp of mathematics and a real understanding of the preparation, tips and techniques required for examination success.

Tutoring Approach

The vast majority of students that I have tutored have commented favourably on my effectiveness at breaking down and explaining, in simple terms, some of the more difficult concepts they encounter; I have known tutees remark: "Wow, that was easier than I thought!".

I am approachable, calm and keen on raising motivation as well as build the confidence of the tutee. I encourage students to maintain discipline, so that they develop effective study habits, develop independence and learn-how-to-learn skills, essential for future learning.
