BANJO TUTOR-I am an experienced tutor of 5-string banjo, with a mixed portfolio of students of all ages, and a wide-ranging passion for music of all types. I am also a performing singer-songwriter. I am particularly interested in helping banjo students as I am passionate about the instrument and its versatility, and I am aware that there are very few banjo teachers out there!! I am doing my best to address that balance and bring banjo more into the mainstream. My rate is £35 per hour.

Tutoring Experience

I am a registered guitar tutor with the London College of Music ( formerly known as the Registry of Guitar Tutors) and have 10 years experience of teaching music both on a one to one basis and in small groups. There is no formal body for banjo teaching however I have formulated my own programme for banjo tuition built on my teaching experience and having mastered the instrument and found a way of teaching that works and does not send the student down a route towards playing banjo in only one main style which appears to be quite common in most banjo tuition resources.

Tutoring Approach

I tailor lessons to suit learning needs and aspirations- I can help with all aspects from complete beginner first steps, and obtaining the right instrument for your needs, to building confidence to play and sing for the family BBQ! or perform in a professional setting and I love to adapt music from all genres for the banjo.
