I am a dedicated mother of four children, each with unique neurodiverse needs, which has given me a deeply personal and practical understanding of how children learn. My two eldest daughters are both dyslexic and have ADHD, my youngest daughter is gifted and talented with ADHD, and my son has dyspraxia. This diverse set of learning profiles has shown me first-hand that a one-size-fits-all approach to education is simply not effective. Every child is different, and I specialize in identifying how each child learns best. I then use this information to create tailored learning programs that address their individual strengths and needs, ensuring that they receive the support they deserve.
My academic background in Psychology, combined with a keen interest in cognition and learning, drives my approach to teaching. I hold a PGCE in KS2/3 English, with a specialism in Special Educational Needs (SEN). This training has allowed me to gain experience across a variety of educational settings, including Primary, Secondary, and Special Education, which has broadened my understanding of the diverse ways in which children learn. I am passionate about creating environments where all students, regardless of their challenges, feel confident and supported in their learning journey.
In my role as an educator, I have developed expertise in teaching across multiple subjects at the Primary level, where I specialize in literacy and overcoming learning barriers. I am a Level 5 qualified dyslexia teacher, with extensive experience working with students who face difficulties in reading and writing. In addition, I am skilled in teaching English up to GCSE, and I am familiar with the requirements of all major exam boards and the new curriculum. My experience also extends to teaching all Key Stage 3 (KS3) subjects, ensuring that I can support a wide range of students across different age groups and academic levels.
I am currently pursuing an MA in Specific Learning Differences (SpLD) with a focus on dyslexia, which allows me to deepen my knowledge and expertise in this field. I am Level 7 qualified, and this advanced training enables me to offer highly specialized programs for dyslexic learners, including individualized reading, spelling, writing, and handwriting interventions. I understand that dyslexia can impact students in different ways, so I tailor these programs to meet each child’s specific challenges, helping them build essential skills at their own pace.
Beyond academic achievements, my ultimate goal is to empower students to become confident, independent learners. I recognize that academic success is not just about grades but also about fostering a positive mindset, resilience, and a love for learning. Helping students raise their self-esteem is a key part of my approach. I work closely with each child to identify their strengths, celebrate their progress, and encourage a growth mindset, so they feel more confident in their abilities and motivated to continue learning.
In essence, my work is driven by a passion for helping neurodiverse learners thrive, not just in their academic studies but also in their personal growth. I believe that with the right support, every child has the potential to succeed and gain confidence in their own learning abilities.
