Greetings!

I'm creative... I'm inspirational... and I'm highly motivated.

I'm an experienced university lecturer and part-time tutor, with a passion for English Language and Literature.

I have 20 years of private one-to-one tutoring GCSE and A level English Language and Literature.

I write short stories and poems and am a published bookshop author of travel magazines.

I also teach Drama, Politics and Philosophy: many of my students have been inspired by my critical reflection techniques, which challenge young people to reflect critically about the works they study within the wider context of culture, politics and society.

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored over 500 students on a one-to-one basis and almost 80 students via Skype.

I was a founding member of a pioneering Warwickshire County Council programme offering tailored tutoring for vulnerable and disadvantaged secondary school students in the care system.

I tutor both GCSE and A level English Language and Literature.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching approach is creative, inspirational and enthusiastic. As a published author, I plan, write and tailor all of my own lessons to match each student's ability, skills and talents. I offer constructive feedback which is fair and balanced.

I enthuse students with my own published material, which encompasses the creative writing and travel genres.

In addition, I have been involved in public speaking and coaching, so can provide confidence-building modules for students in areas such as: speech writing; presenting performance pieces like soliloquys; coaching and building confidence more generally.

In every young person lies a poet, a writer, a dramatist, a performer... students need to be nurtured and encouraged to release their inner psyches, as each and every one has a burning literary talent waiting to be unleashed.

Finally, I have an enhanced DBS clearance and recently completed a Safeguarding Course.
