I am a fun and engaging tutor with over 10 years experience tutoring in a variety of subjects including Music, English Literature, History, Composition and Musical Analysis. I tailor-make my tutorials to suit the needs of the individual, whether my students are studying for GCSEs or at degree level and beyond. I specialise in Music, but also have a wealth of experience tutoring History and English for A-level too. My tutorials set key aims from the beginning so that the basics always get covered, but I always encourage wider reading and exploration of specialist topics and case studies that are of particular interest to my students, so their education is broad as well as thorough. In addition, I am a seasoned mock interviewer and offer tutorials specifically aimed at preparing candidates for university interview, including Oxbridge. If you have any questions or want to know more, feel free to get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you!
I have a first class degree (BA Hons) in Music from Oxford (Merton College) and a wealth of tutoring experience, including working for agencies that include Dukes Education, Oxbridge Applications, Ivy Education, Kings Tutors, Bright Young Things and Educate. I have also taken on private students for musical theory, including Grade 8 and degree level. My specialities include: Music, Composition, Analysis, English Literature and History. I am an experienced tutorial group leader and mock interviewer, and have worked with several candidates in preparation for Oxbridge interviews. I am comfortable teaching a large variety of texts for English literature and have taught several mainstream topics for History.
As a graduate of Oxford University, I have gained valuable insight into the tutorial system and this has helped me discover the best way to shape learning paths. Not only do I have a record of high academic achievement, but I have essential experience in communicating my skills and knowledge to others. I have come to appreciate how one-on-one tuition can inspire and engage students and I am able to provide focused and comprehensive lessons which cover a wide range of skills in a short space of time. My area of expertise is Music, which is an unusual degree in its incorporation of both academic and practical elements. During my A-levels, I studied musical composition at Chetham’s School of Music, where I came to appreciate the importance of these two elements and how they can both co-exist and cross-fertilise. Having benefited from an education at both leading academic and vocational institutions, I believe I am well placed to provide a dynamic and broad education to tutees. I have helped students from GCSE level up to current university undergraduates and specialise in helping to improve grades, craft essay technique and prepare candidates for interview.
