My name is Stefan Abberley and I graduated in July 2024 with a First Class Honours in 'BA (Hons) Language Studies in French and German'. I have enjoyed speaking these two languages for many years and am always eager to help children to access these languages further in a more specialised and focused way, so that they can reach their full potential and see how beneficial it is to be a linguist.
I have been a teaching assistant in several schools, helping both within the classroom and with interventions for children with Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). I have also taught small groups of children both French and German, including during the Covid lockdowns to children who were eligible to be in school at the time, and have received overwhelming praise for my teaching style from both students and staff alike.
I can see the real benefits of learning languages, especially as they can be so crucial to connecting with the world around us and understanding it, and I try to emphasise this when I am teaching a language. I do this by tailoring my teaching methods to each child individually, ensuring that they understand what they are being taught and why what they are learning is relevant. I also like to find out what their interests are so as to make their learning more accessible and enjoyable. Above all, I like to ensure that anyone and everyone I work with becomes confident and believes in themselves!
