I owe my successes in my career and in my outlook on life to one inspirational and motivated teacher. It is from experiencing first-hand the enormous and lasting positive impact education can have on a young person's life that I was led to choose a career as a teacher. I am incredibly passionate about history, about developing young people, and thrive on fostering this enthusiasm in others.
I am very organised, have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and a good sense of humour.
I began teaching History in 2006, I have been a Head of Department for 9 years and Head of Faculty for 4. During my career I have worked with nationally recognised consultants such as Mike Maddison and Tony Stephens amongst others. I am experienced in teaching a wide range of GCSE specifications including both SHP and Modern World. I currently teach the AQA board, have examined for Edexcel for 3 years and am currently an examiner for OCR.
I am a friendly and patient tutor who will tailor my approach to best meet the needs of the student. Sessions can focus on specific areas of development such as content knowledge retention, exam technique or source analysis skills. I have access to a wide range of exemplar answers and I am more than happy to take work completed in the session home with me to mark in my own time.
