I am a fully qualified Primary teacher currently working in Aberdeen City. I hold a Bachelors Honours Degree in Primary Education and have been teaching since 2013. Teaching has always been my passion and I love to share that with my pupils. During term time I am available evenings, however I am more flexible during school holidays.
I have worked full time as a teacher for 10 years, teaching from P1 to P7. Four of those years were spent in Early Years in Doha and Abu Dhabi, giving me lots of experience working with children with English as an additional language and studying Early Development. In the past I have tutored children working towards passing entry exams to private schools, all of which were accepted. I have also a variety of experience working with children with barriers to learning such as Dyslexia, hearing impairments, ADHD and Autism.
My teaching approach is tailored to the individual child. I try to challenge as much as I can where appropriate, using a skills based approach where we attempt tasks in different contexts making connections between skills we've learned. I always carry out an initial assessment to identify next steps and create a learning plan. This plan is then adapted as we progress to provide challenge or support when needed. I aim to enable children to attempt a task independently, only providing support when necessary, using questioning to scaffold learning.
