My name is Shaz and I'm a doctor working and living in Nottingham
I have a wealth of knowledge from my education and life experiences. This includes developing a business in tutoring, working for myself and building confidence in students. As well as teaching I aim to be a mentor for students.
I have over a decade of experience teaching mainly 1-2-1s and have also taught at classes of 8 at tuition centres.
What subjects do I teach?
I teach Maths (upto GCSE) & specialise in the sciences: Biology & Chemistry (Gcse & Alevel)
Hobbies and interests
I enjoy playing squash, tennis and badminton along with being a UFC fan.
I have taught a range of age groups from KS2 up to University level. Teaching demanding subjects such as Maths, Biology and Chemistry has allowed me to teach the essential skills necessary to gain marks and most importantly the content knowledge to receive the higher grades.
Working with examiners in Aqa, OCR and Edexcel has given me a very detailed understanding of their mindset and exactly what their specific requirements are for GCSE and A-Levels. These skills are transferable and have allowed me to teach to other exam boards such as WJEC and IGCSE.
Many of my students have easily met and also exceeding their set targets, achieving their goals in studying respected courses such as Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, Mechanical engineering and Law at prestigious Universities such as St Georges, Bristol, Aberdeen, Swansea, Kings College London, Imperial College London and many more.
I have a range of clients that can give a reference for my teaching. Please get in contact if needed
I am also available to tutor students with learning difficulties, such as Dyslexia and Autism
I am very enthusiastic about the subjects i teach and enjoy learning about each student for their individual thinking then adjust to teach content, organisation of theories for memory recall, and exam technique to get the final high achieving marks.
My strength is being able to interact with students on a more casual level, because I've recently been in their positions. I understand the uneasy mindset and can quickly adjust misconceptions effectively.
I'm like simplifying difficult concepts in and showing students new ways of understanding their work. Task linking and the zoom approach are personal techniques developed by myself, which aim to create logical steps helping with memory recall. These are essential to cope with the high pressures of exams, especially in a STEM degree requirement.
