I am a Mathematics and Statistics graduate with a DBS Enhanced Check and over six years of experience as a private maths tutor, both online and in-person, across homes and educational centres. My journey in education has allowed me to positively impact hundreds of students, enhancing their engagement with mathematics and guiding them towards making informed decisions for their future. This has been achieved through a combination of mentoring and leadership, inspiring students to maintain optimism throughout their academic journey. I am particularly adept at helping students successfully pass their exams, whether it’s a first attempt or a resit, often within a 3-6 month period.
My teaching is further enriched by my personal interests in exercise, languages, and travel, which provide a well-rounded perspective and a deeper connection with my students. Recognizing the importance of individual hobbies and interests, I adopt a flexible and accommodating approach in my tutoring, ensuring a supportive and adaptive learning environment. This approach not only fosters academic success but also encourages personal growth, making mathematics both accessible and enjoyable, and motivating students to pursue their passions with confidence.
Covering Students in the UK and internationally, I have experienced tutoring the following level of qualifications for Maths. In the UK has consisted of Functional Skills, KS3, GCSE and A-level. Outside the UK I have great experience in IB, IGCSE and Scottish Nationals.
Start with an assessment to gauge the student's current understanding and identify areas of strength and weakness. Explain complex mathematical concepts using everyday analogies that the student can easily relate to. Utilize visual aids such as diagrams, charts, and online interactive tools to illustrate mathematical ideas. Engage the student in solving problems during the session, providing guidance and feedback. Clearly explain why certain methods are correct and others are not, often using examples or counterexamples. Regularly review previously covered material and provide reinforcement exercises. Gradually guide the student towards solving problems independently, offering less direct help over time.
