I live in Leamington Spa. Obviously, as an English teacher, I read a great deal and am interested in a wide range of subjects for example politics and the environment. I particularly enjoy walking in the gorgeous countryside of the Midlands.
Love all animals - especially cats!
I have taught English across the age and ability range for 25 years and currently work for Birmingham City University training English teachers. This includes teaching and assessing masters level assignments.
My last post in school was as an Assistant Principal in charge of teaching and learning. I have taught extensively at A level - English Language, Literature and Creative Writing. I have also supported many students with UCAS applications including helping them put together personal statements. Students often contact me from University when they start their English degrees - they usually just need a bit of reassurance and confidence boosting about how to approach degree level work. In addition, I have also recently been supporting a mature student studying for an OU English Literature degree who had not studied the subject at A level. I am an examiner for A level English Language.
Totally student centred. I work with the student to identify their strengths and weaknesses and work out a plan for how to support progress towards their goals. I like to see written work with feedback from teachers so that I can work alongside the teaching they have at school. I particularly encourage students to generate their own ideas and to become more resilient and confident learners.
