I am an experienced and highly skilled teacher (rated 'Outstanding' by OFSTED four times and Maths leader). I consistently coax more out of tutees than they ever thought possible with my zealous approach to teaching. I am passionate about helping the individual child to fulfill his or her potential.
Since graduating from Oxford Brookes University with a First Class degree with Honours in 2012, I have taught full-time across Key Stages 1 and 2. For the past 5 years, I have worked solely as a 1:1 tutor, holding Zoom lessons for students from Key Stage 1 to 4.
I achieved a specialism in Mastery: Gifted & Talented education which is highly valuable in ensuring your child is consistently challenged and becomes a competent, critical thinker. I provide individually tailored, effective and highly enjoyable tuition in a warm yet disciplined way to get the most out of each child. The students I currently tutor have been with me long-term which reflects the parent's satisfaction of the excellent progress I am able to achieve with each student. Almost all of my current students are with me after word of mouth.
I have 10 years teaching experience across the whole of Key Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4 (Year 1 to Year 11) in schools in Oxford, Cockermouth and Workington. My knowledge of the curriculum and exam requirements is unparalleled. I gained my first 'Outstanding' rating from OFSTED in my first year of teaching which demonstrates my natural flair for quality teaching and learning experiences. Furthermore, the children in my classes and online, consistently make accelerated progress. My passions lie particularly in the teaching of Maths at Secondary level. In the 5 years of being a private Maths tutor, I have supported all students to move up class sets and gain at least one grade higher in their GCSEs than predicted, often two grades.
My approach varies according to the student's profile, personality and expectations. To do this I rigorously assess each child's strengths and weaknesses, as well as taking into account factors such as how he or she learns best and any difficulties he or she has had to date (e.g. Not speaking up in class when he or she does not understand something). I will then put together a tailor-made learning plan, with targets, so that we can measure progress and ensure your child is getting the best possible learning experience.
