I am an extremely experienced, fully qualified English teacher. I have a BA Honours (University of London) in Literature and PGCE (University of Oxford) in English. I have been teaching English and Literature at GCSE and A level for 29 years and I am currently teaching at an Ofsted Outstanding school in London. I have been an examiner for all the major exam boards. I am calm, focused, caring, and positive. I love all things cultural (art, theatre, literature), but I’m a bit of a polymath and have wide and varied interests. I’m based in South Norwood.
Currently, I teach GCSE and A level English Language and Literature in an Outstanding school in London, teaching AQA and OCR exam boards. Because I have been an examiner for all the main exam boards, at GCSE and A level, I know how to help students get good grades at all levels. I am currently a Sixth Form Pastoral Lead as well as a teacher of English. Previously, I was Head of English. I have tutored students for a couple of years and have fantastic results.
I take a child-centred, positive, flexible, structured approach to teaching and learning. Although the exam mark schemes are set in stone, every student is different with different strengths and weaknesses. I will help you by assessing and identifying what you’re good at, and in what areas you need more help, support and guidance. Each lesson is unique and focused on a student’s needs. I can set homework at the end of a lesson if required, but I will work with you to decide what is best for you.
