I am a PhD qualified Chemist who is currently teaching Chemistry at a popular grammar school in North London. I love my job because I love science. I have a passion for Chemistry which I enjoy sharing with the kids I teach. I feel that my research experience has helped with my teaching of A-level as I can relate the science they learn to the real world and inspire them as to what they can do in the future with their science qualifications. I have previpusly been Head of Chemistry and deputy head of sixth form. This experience in developing curriculum and training other teachers along with experience supporting 6th formers pastorally is experience I feel would greatly help any tutee.
I am also well practice in supporting them with their UCAS applications.

Since lockdown i have embraced online teaching and delivered an excellent programme of lessons to my students over Microsoft teams. I have grown to really enjoy this format and developed excellent resources to support the students learning.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a teacher in North London for over 12 years. I have previously been head of Chemistry and pastorlally have been deputy head of sixth.
I have taught Chemistry at A-level for over 12 years and Physics at A-level for 3.

I am currently teaching AQA GCSE chemistry and Edexcel A-Level but have taught OCR and AQA A-Level and have experienced tutoring GCSE from Edexcel and OCR.

I have taught general science up to GCSE level which included Biology. I have also got experience teaching iGCSE Chemistry and BTec Science.

In addition to Chemistry, I can tutor all 3 sciences through GCSE and am qualified to teach Physics through A-level.

Tutoring Approach

I believe the best way to teach is a pupil centred method. I wish to enthuse the pupils with my love of science but need them to come to me with their problems identified. If not I will seek to identify the problems with them. I believe pupils need to be actively engaged in their learning and take ownership of their progress. They must wish to be aware of their own strengths and weakness and develop strategies for learning. I feel I can help with this and set them up to be independent learners. There are as many learning styles as their are pupils and while I would share my preferred methods I am flexible as I have had to be when teaching classes of 30.
