I have a BSc (Hons) (2011), an MSc (2013), and a PhD in biomedical sciences (2022). I have a thorough and extensive knowledge of both biomedical sciences and pedagogy, as I also have a teaching degree. I have many years of experience in scientific industry as well as academia.
I am friendly, approachable and supportive- I am aware that students often struggle with anxiety around mathematics and examinations in particular; I am experienced in successfully helping students alleviate these fears and perform to the best of their abilities.

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored extensively and have also taught biology, chemistry and study skills at schools, colleges of further education and at University level in England, Wales and Scotland. I have significant experience of teaching both theory and laboratory based practical science. I worked as the lead demonstrator at the University of Liverpool for several years for undergraduate biosciences and veterinary students. I currently teach laboratory skills to BSc and MSc students at the University of Salford. I have a PGCE in further and higher education (PCET) (2014) so I am a fully qualified teacher for the 16+ age group.

Tutoring Approach

I take a hands on approach with teaching. I believe science should interest and fascinate and I will use any combination of charts, graphs and drawings to ensure my student thoroughly understands and enjoys the subject. One of my strengths is understanding the needs of each individual student and tailoring the session to fit the style with which that student learns best.
