I'm an Irish trained science teacher who moved to the UK in 2014 after finishing my teacher training university degree. I am assistant headteacher with over 10 years experience teaching science and A level Biology.
I have taught a wide variety of classes during my 10 years experience from my triple science class which got the higher % of grade 9s my school had ever achieved to my top set science classes to my foundation science class which got 100% 4+. I have also taught A level Biology for 10 years achieving 56% A*-A. I love science and science education which is why I have held these various roles: KS3 lead in science, KS5 lead in science, KS4 lead in science, second in charge of science and I was a head of science before being promoted to assistant headteacher for KS3 achievement.
I love to ask my students questions to ensure they have a deep understanding of difficult scientific concepts. I ensure that my students practise lots of exam questions, science has a special language that they need to get used to writing in. And luckily, science does not change so if they practise their exam technique enough there is no reason why they can not succeed in their exams.
