Private Maths and English Tutor in Holt

I am an experienced Primary School teacher and I love the challenges and rewards that my job brings. I live in Holt in Norfolk with my family and friendly Labrador dog. Our main enjoyment is exploring the beautiful coastline and trying out new eating places on the way! I like live music of any sort and I am also a fan of Cromer cinema in my spare time.

Tutoring Experience

I have over twenty years' teaching experience and have held a number of teaching positions. In Yorkshire I effectively established and taught in a Nursery Unit for several years in my village. I have enjoyed the roles of Reading and Art co-ordinator and have also been involved in musical productions as well as effectively undertaking day to day classroom duties.
Since then I have successfully taught children with a number of difficulties, providing an individual programme of learning to suit their needs both in the classroom and out. I have worked with children who have struggled to learn to read (mild dyslexia), children with Down's syndrome, ADHD and autism. I have attended numerous training courses, ranging from dyslexia and autism to Pie Corbett’s Talk for Writing approach. I have had training on implementing the new curriculum when it was introduced.

Tutoring Approach

I can offer tuition for children from the Early Years stage up to Year Six. I offer an initial meeting to discuss your tutoring requirements, then as a personal tutor my aim is to devise an individual learning programme to suit the needs of each child. I give regular feedback on pupils' progress. I aim to inspire children by teaching English and Maths using a range of visual, audio and kinaesthetic approaches alongside more traditional teaching methods.

My strengths as a teacher lie in good relationships with staff, children and parents alike. I am approachable, reliable and committed to my job. You can be sure of good results. My goal is to help each child reach their own potential while remaining firm, fair flexible and fun!
