With 20+ years as an educator, I bring a wealth of academic and professional knowledge and lived experience to inspire, enthuse and motivate my students to achieve their best at school and in their wider development. The positive, productive relationships I've built with students and their families, alongside the wide variety of subjects I teach effectively, have resulted in many extended contracts, referrals, and returning students.
My love of learning has kept me in direct delivery of education because every session, every course, and every student is a continuous learning experience for the teacher as well.
I have been providing 1-2-1 and group sessions as a freelance tutor since 2015. In 2016-17, I trained as a teacher, gaining experience in classroom delivery within secondary schools and increasing my knowledge and understanding of assessments.
I've practised as a teacher in secondary schools, supporting KS3, GCSE, and A-Level students through the curriculum. As a private tutor, I develop and deliver series of sessions providing 1-2-1 support tailored to the individual attaining set goals e.g. coursework assignments and especially exam success.
My tuition students make considerable progress and on average achieve results 2 grades higher than predicted, and occasionally the highest possible grade.
I categorise myself as a facilitator and my overall approach to educating others is person-centered mentoring and learner-led knowledge development. I provide learning sessions that build upon students' strengths to support their development needs. I source, modify or develop learning resources that will be relevant to and fun for each learner. I support learners to set realistic achievement goals and regularly review progress through a course.
My aim for every learner is for them to be confident in their understanding and knowledge of the subject matter as well as develop learning skills they can transfer across to others subjects.
