Originally from Yorkshire I’ve lived in the midlands for almost 30 years Hobbies include playing in an orchestra and singing in a choir, watching football and going to concerts and the theatre. .I also love doing maths and logic puzzles
I have been a maths teacher for 28 years in different secondary schools throughout the West Midlands and South Yorkshire. My roles within school have been varied and include head of maths and lead practitioner. In addition I have also spent part of my career as a maths advisor within the school improvement sector, developing teaching and learning in a angle of secondary schools. I keep up to date on all the recent changes to GCSE and A level maths. I am an experienced GCSE maths examiner. The subjects I teach are GCSE Maths and Statistics, and at A level I can teach Pure and Applied maths as well as Further Maths
I am friendly, easy to get along with and aim to make maths easy to understand by making it fun. I am passionate about maths and this comes across in my lessons. The sessions I run are tailor made for each individual student. This takes into account the level they are currently working at, target grade, areas for development and preferred learning style. At GCSE and A level I build into each session past exam questions including problem solving questions to practice what was learnt in the lesson. Homework can be set if required which will be marked and feedback given promptly.
