Hi, I’m Samantha. I am an English secondary school teacher with just over eleven years of experience. I enjoy working with young people; helping them to achieve their goals and discover the joy and excitement that an appreciation of English can bring. I am enthusiastic, patient, calm and organised - important qualities that enable my students to gain in confidence and flourish in their exams.
I have taught in secondary schools across London and have taught across the age and ability ranges. This means that I have a lot of experience in helping students who have difficulties in accessing the curriculum. I have been Head of English, in charge of a large, successful department as well as an examiner and moderator for GCSE and A Level exam boards. Therefore I have a very detailed understanding of what is required of students for their examinations.
My experiences in teaching a range of students from diverse backgrounds and academic capability mean that I am completely aware of how to tailor my lessons to suit the needs of individual students. I understand that many students who come for tuition may feel worried and unconfident about their exams or an aspect of the syllabus that they are studying. My aim is to develop their confidence whilst enabling them to really understand how to get the best possible grade they are capable of achieving. I believe that good communication is important in developing a good working relationship and I encourage input from my students with regards to how they want their tuition to develop.
