Privet! Привет!
I am a qualified native Russian teacher from Moscow. I have a degree in English and Russian translation and have an experience in teaching both children and adults Russian and English languages, literatures, phonics and folklores. I have worked as a teacher in Russia and England engaging in different curriculums.
I am a friendly, open and positive person by nature, who takes great joy from empowering my students and I am always keen to explore new approaches and help others to achieve their goals.
I have a son, who is bilingual, and can speak both English and Russian!
I can also speak Ukrainian and German. I was born in the Ukraine and used to spend all my summers at my nan's in a small Ukrainian town. I studied German at the University in Moscow as my third language, and have fallen in love with it since then.
In Moscow I ran workshops in mainstream schools on different subjects including Russian and English languages, Improvisation, Crafts.
I also worked as a freelance English and Russian tutor, teaching kids and adults languages. I taught students of all levels from beginners to advanced, in groups and individually.
In Bristol I work as a teaching assistant in a primary school and also have a local children’s group who meet for weekly classes and activities based on Russian fairy-tales and folklore.
Brief description of my job and main duties at the moment:
• Supervising the whole class and delivering prepared activities, such as English and Maths
• Delivering Phonics to the whole class
• Providing general support to the class
• Supporting working relationship with the pupils, acting as role model and setting high expectations.
• Supporting pupils learning in the most effective way.
• Supporting pupils with special educational needs through the delivery of specific learning programmes.
I am using a creative approach to language teaching. It's an approach that presents creativity as one of our many innate skills, a talent that every person, and every language learner has! This approach focuses on the idea that we all can enjoy the potential to be creative under certain conditions. That we all abound with many different forms and levels of creativity and that it is my task, as a teacher to stimulate the creative potential in students.
Language is creative in its very nature! We can express or communicate one idea in many different ways.
I love the fact that language classes are not limited by any specialised subject or knowledge. I can build our lessons on topics related to sport, music, law or philosophy and still focus on language.
Before you and I start working together, I would like us to have a 30 minutes introductory phone call or face-to-face to get to know each other and make sure we are a good fit.
