MR GOLDSPINK MATHS
Hello! Welcome to my page, where Maths education meets humour, hard work and heart. I’m Ryan, from West Yorkshire and I am an experienced (12 years) and qualified teacher of Mathematics and a current GCSE examiner, ex-Head of Department, former UWCSEA teacher (a world leading IBDP school in Singapore) now running Mr Goldspink Maths full time.
I deliver small classes of between 2-5 students, daytime or evening and have a small number of spaces for 11+, GCSE, I-GCSE, Middle School (KS3) and IBDP in an engaging environment. I also have a very limited number of 1-1 spots available.
Understanding the financial burden that additional educational support can impose, I set my small group hourly rate as half the price of 1-1, with the intention of making tuition accessible and affordable to as many students as possible. My primary motivation is my love for mathematics and the joy of sharing that enthusiasm with my students.
I have extensive experience with all four major UK exam boards—Edexcel, OCR, and AQA, as well as Cambridge International for the IGCSE. I also have up-to-date knowledge of the IBDP specification, having taught this at UWCSEA from 2022-2024. This in-depth familiarity with their specific syllabi, examination styles, and assessment criteria enables me to provide targeted and effective tuition, tailored to meet the unique requirements of each exam board. Whether it’s preparing for standard coursework, mock exams, or final assessments, I ensure that my students are well-equipped to excel.
Over the last ten years, I have been tutoring students primarily in KS3 (Middle School), GCSE and IGCSE Mathematics. My expertise extends to A-Level and IBDP.
I just returned to the UK after 3 years working at UWCSEA, a world leading IGCSE / IBDP international school. Some of the destinations of my students in 23/24 include UCL to study Medicine, Cambridge to read English, Durham to study Law, Yale to study Business and more.
In 2021/22 all of my GCSE students achieved a 100% pass rate. Whilst I was Head of Department, our department had a 70% increase in student uptake for A-Level Mathematics and we secured results in the top 5% for boys nationally.

I have developed a bespoke program, which follows the UK National Curriculum for GCSE and A-Level. I have access to CGP, White Rose Maths and Save My Exams as part of my offering.
For IGCSE I follow the International CIM 0606/0607 programs with resources from Haese and Harris. For IBDP, I follow the Haese program.
When introducing new topics, I provide independent practice that should be completed independently between sessions. Any difficulties or questions that arise can then be addressed in future sessions, ensuring that any confusion is thoroughly resolved.
You will need a writing pad / tablet to get the most out of our sessions.
