Rowan

Hi, I'm Rowan, a current PhD student based in London. I have recently completed a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Linguistics at the University of Cambridge, where I achieved First Class Honours. I also have top grades in a wide range of subjects at secondary school level. I love to learn, and it is this passion for learning that I bring to my tutoring to help pupils fulfil their potential. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing touch rugby with my local club, and exploring the city!

Tutoring Experience

I have 2+ years of experience tutoring maths and science subjects. During this time I worked with an outreach charity, providing individualised and group tutoring to children from disadvantaged and vulnerable backgrounds. Whilst working with them, my pupils' engaged more with the subject and with learning, and saw improvement from D to A grades in just a few months. Some have gone on to study at top universities afterwards, in subjects such as Medicine and Accounting.

Tutoring Approach

I aim to create an environment which puts my pupil at the centre. All my sessions are tailored according to the pupil's individual needs, as well as their areas of difficulty, and learning style. I do not believe in a strict, regimented educational program, but rather find that pupils can work at their best when they are listened to, and when lessons remain flexible as and when questions arise on particular topics.
