My name is Ross and I am 41 years old. I am a fully qualified primary school teacher. I graduated from St Martin's college in 2004.
I have two children (a six-year-old and a ten-year-old) and live in Buckshaw Village, Chorley.
I am big football fan and love playing and coaching football. I also enjoy playing and watching other sports and spending time with my family.
I have taught in a wide range of year groups in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in the state and private sector during my teaching career. I have been a teacher for 19 years and have taught many children with a wide range of abilities.
I am currently working in Year 5 and have previously taught in years 2, 3, 4 and 5. I have also taught in year 6, teaching reading, SPAG and maths intervention groups in preparation for SATS.
I am flexible in how I tutor. I can tutor online via Zoom or I can tutor in-person. I am happy to do either.
I am enthusiastic, patient and positive when I tutor. I plan tutor sessions carefully and around current National Curriculum expectations.
A typical tutor session might include:
Revision of previously learnt concepts/methods /skills.
Demonstration of methods and then an opportunity to practice them.
Correcting of misconceptions to ensure children fully understand a particular skill/method.
Use of ICT and multimedia software to complete tasks in a fun and engaging way.
When tutoring, I would look to build your child's confidence and ensure that they make as much progress as possible. I look to use various resources, using apparatus in maths and ICT where possible. I would also ensure that feedback is given at the end of every session.
