Hello! I'm Rónán - a Molecular Biologist gone rogue and switched to educating the next generation of brilliant minds. I graduated with a MRes in Molecular Biology from Imperial College London.
All throughout my time, I helped my classmates in my group of friends grasp the often abstract and sometimes contradictory concepts presented in lectures. I then helped some of my friend's relatives in their GCSEs. No matter, the level at which one studies, Biology is a tough, information-laden subject.
I keep things simple and work methodically. The syllabi concerned are clear about what students should know to score marks in exams. I go through each part of the specification with students, assessing their comprehension and periodically testing their retention. I also work through past papers because their mark schemes can elucidate exactly how certain questions should be answered - exams are fairly rigid in format so this is imperative. Students that know their subject inside-out often miss marks because of this rigidity.
After each session, I produce a piece of written feedback and a summary of content covered - this keeps all parties accountable (and it helps to know whether your money is being well spent).
