After 30 years teaching science I have taken early retirement from the role. I live in Drayton, near Norwich and tutoring enables me to support students who need help to do their best in exams or who are finding parts of the curriculum difficult.
I have been teaching science for over 30 years and I am an examiner for Edexcel. Although I was a Headteacher for the last 12 years of my career I continued to teach science up to A level. In 2013 I took early retirement to pursue other interests but I also taught science part time during which my lessons were graded 'outstanding' by the headteacher. My experience of teaching has been in large comprehensive schools at all levels of ability. I am a GCSE examiner for AQA
Initially we need to find out what the problems are and how to approach them. We all have different ways of learning and we work together to find the best way to progress. I use a variety of approaches including video and the text books used by the school. For exam tuition, it is important to use past paper questions so that the student begins to see what sort of questions are used and how to use exam techniques to get the best result that they deserve. I set tasks (homework!) that can be sent to me via e mail so it's been assessed by the time we meet again.
