I am an English literature graduate with a proven track record in exam results. I have taught English from Key Stage 3 through to A level, along with subjects such as Communication Studies and Media Studies. I currently live in North Gloucestershire where I write and illustrate books as well as singing in a choir and painting pet portraits.
I have been teaching for 28 years, most recently at a successful 11-18 comprehensive school. I have been head of the Media Studies Department while retaining my passion for teaching English and Literature across the board. I have extensive experience in analysing the requirements of exam specifications and using this to ensure good value added results from my students.
I focus on giving students an accessible and well-structures approach to their studies, developing analysis and writing skills through a range of approaches that are adaptable to the requirements of the student. I enthuse my classes through my own love of reading and writing, and use this to draw out a student's own insights and responses. I teach the importance of planned responses to maximise exam performance and a thorough understanding of what examiners expect to see from a candidate.
