Robert tutored my daughter for one hour a week in A level Chemistry and took her from a Grade D in the mock exams to a Grade A. Clearly very knowledgeable, arrived on time - rang to let meknow when he was running late one time - but didn't listen properly to what my daughter said she wanted to cover so spent too much time on topics she didn't need help with.Thanks for the feedback, Joanne. I'm sorry to hear that I was covering material where help was not needed. That can happen when a student asks for a topic to be covered; I will tend to cover it comprehensively. However, I am always open to guidance from the student and am very happy for them to interrupt and ask me either to skip ahead over parts they are confident about or go back over items they are still unsure of. I do make that plain during the first lesson but students do sometimes baulk at interrupting a teacher in full flight. She should regard me as a resource, and if what I am doing is not useful to her then she should feel free to let me know without hesitation.

Robert has taught two of my children with the A level chemistry syllabus. They have both found him one of the most outstanding chemistry teachers they have come across.
